CRS-16 launch viewing cancelled

The Commercial Resupply Service-16 launch viewing has been cancelled due to an unexpected delay. The launch has been postponed until tomorrow. All still wishing to view the launch can go to https://www.spacex.com/webcast.

 

 

Schriever, Peterson gate hours to change Wednesday

In light of President Trump dedicating Wednesday as a national day of mourning for former President George H.W. Bush, the gate hours on Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado and Schriever AFB will change.

 

Schriever AFB:

West Gate, West Vehicle Entrapment Area and Vehicle Search Area - closed at noon, opens 6 a.m. Thursday.

North Gate - normal operating hours.

 

Peterson AFB:

North Gate - closed.

East Gate - open normal hours (5 a.m. – 6 p.m.).

West Gate open 24/7.

 

 

Chief Master Sergeant release party to begin

Visit Schriever - Staff and Family Tour: Dec. 20

Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, personnel and their family members are invited on a Staff and Family Tour 9 a.m. - noon Dec. 21. Space is limited, first come, first served. Children are welcome, however, the tour will include lots of stairs, so strollers cannot be accommodated. The deadline to sign up is Dec. 14. If interested, call the 50th Space Wing Public Affairs office at 567-5040. There is a minimum of 15 partciants needed or the tour will be cancelled.

 

 

Chapel team hosts Angel Trees

The 50th Space Wing Chaplain’s Office is coordinating this year’s Angel Tree program. Airmen are encouraged to pick one angel, candy cane, or bell hanging on a tree and give back to the local community. Trees will be in the Building 210 atrium, Satellite Dish Dining Facility and Tierra Vista Community Center until Saturday. The chapel team suggests gifts are at least $30, in total, per child. Gifts can be dropped at the 50th SW Chaplain's Office in Building 300, Room 149, or the satellite chapel office in Building 210, Room 270, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Dec. 10 – 14. Clinic announces closures

The Schriever Air Force Base Clinic is closed on the following dates/times:

In recognition of President Trump's Executive order declaring Wednesday, December 5, 2018 a National Day of Mourning, the 21st Medical Group will be operating at minimal manning to provide acute care needs to our beneficiaries. The Peterson Military Treatment Facility will be open from 7:30-11:30 a.m. for active duty patients requiring care on a  walk-in basis. All ancillary facilities to include the satellite pharmacy, Dental Clinic, and Schriever Medical/Dental Clinic will be closed. Normal operations will resume 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

MetroRides Vanpool provides openings

MetroRides Vanpool is a government subsidized program for all Department of Defense Civil Service employees and active duty military. There is no out of pocket expense for DoD vanpool participants, contractors may also participate. The route starts North Powers and Old Ranch Road and departs at 6:35 a.m. arriving at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, at 7:30 a.m. The vanpool departs Schriever AFB at 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. 50th SCS to perform maintenance on Blackberry UEM servers

There will be maintenance on the Blackberry Unified Endpoint Management Servers Dec. 8 - 9 to alleviate latency that has been ongoing since Oct. 16. During this time, email services will not function through Blackberry and iPhone devices. This maintenance will not affect email services through networked computers or Outlook Web Access.



50th SCS to perform administrative voice mail upgrade

The 50th Space Communications Squadron will perform a voice mail system upgrade to a new server 5 – 6 p.m. Dec. 11. During the process, for at least 10 minutes, but no more than an hour, users will continue to have phone service but will not have voice messaging capability.  After the upgrade, all saved/archived messages will be deleted; this is not inclusive of your greeting message which will remain unchanged.

KMC to provide training

The Knowledge Management Center is providing reoccurring training/classes for the Knowledge Management programs. Classes are held in Building 301, Room 119, every first Thursday of the month. Records Management is held 12 – 1:30 p.m. and Freedom of Information-Privacy Act is held 1:45 – 3:15 p.m. Publications and Forms class is provided 1 - 3 p.m. every third Thursday of the month. Air Force Academy looking for volunteer families

The U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School is looking for volunteer sponsor families to build a professional mentoring relationship and provide a home-away-from-home for the cadet candidates. Sponsoring provides students with a local family support system, adult role models and an avenue for community involvement that would ultimately continue for the duration of their time beginning here at the Prep School, into their journey to the Air Force Academy, and beyond. Military Child of the Year open for nominations

Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit that builds strong, stable and secure military families, is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Military Child of the Year Awards, as well as applications for the 2019 Military Child of the Year Award for Innovation. Military Child of the Year is the nation's premier celebration of the achievements of military children. Nominations are open through Dec. 5, and all awards will be presented at a recognition gala April 18, 2019, in the nation's capital. Society of Military Widows holds meeting

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month, 10:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. The Military Retiree Activities Office holds monthly council meeting the second Thursday of each month     at 11:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.
