On base

Running trail repairs

The running trail, located north of the fitness center (Building 120,) will undergo repair May 21 – June 28. The 50th Civil Engineer Squadron will conduct the repairs due to damage caused by erosion. During these repairs, portions of the running trail will be closed for safety purposes. Areas to be closed will be identified with cones and signs.  We ask all users comply with these closures to help ensure personal safety. Questions can be directed to Mike Rosseau at 567-5092.

 

Staff and Family Tour

Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, personnel and their family members are invited on a Staff and Family Tour from 11:45 a.m. – 4 p.m. June 14. All tour stops are inside the Restricted Area, and will start with lunch at the DISH. Space is limited, so it’s first come, first served. Children are welcome, however, most of the tour may be too technical to keep the attention of small children, and the tour will include stairs and standing with limited room, so strollers cannot be accommodated. The deadline to sign up is June 10. If interested, RSVP to 50SWPA.WORKFLOW@us.af.mil (Subject: Staff and Family Tour) or call the 50th Space Wing Public Affairs office at 567-5040. Please be prepared to provide the following information for all guests 18 or older: 1.) Name (as it appears on their drivers license), 2.) Date of Birth, 3.) DL # and 4.) State of Issue. For those 17 and younger, we need first and last name, along with their age.

 

 

Schriever Choir: Orbital Harmony Auditions

The Schriever Air Force Base Choir performance group Orbital Harmony will conduct auditions to fill vacant spots for the Spring and Summer 2019 performance season. All positions are currently open (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass). Any experience level is welcome. Auditions will be conducted by appointment in the Building 210 Chapel Office. Participation in the Schriever AFB Choir can be used toward qualification for a volunteer ribbon. For more details or to schedule an audition, contact Allen Neal Vickrey at 721-9280.

 

Civilian Personnel Flight hour changes

Effective Wednesday, the Civilian Personnel Flight is changing customer service hours. The new hours will be 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The offices will remain closed until 1 p.m. on Wednesdays to allow for training in an effort to improve the service being provided.

 

GI’s of Comedy Tour

The free G.I.’s of Comedy Tour is scheduled to take place at the base fitness center Thursday. The G.I.’s of Comedy are a well-known comedy team that covers contemporary subject matter. Due to adult situational material, this show is 18 years of age and up. For more information call the 50th Force Support Squadron at 567-4740

50th Operations Support Squadron Change of Command

The 50th OSS change of command will be 9 a.m. June 4 at the Building 210 courtyard. For more information, contact Airman 1st Class Cassidy King at 567-2786.

New Personnel and Manpower Hours

Effective Wednesday, the Manpower and Personnel Offices are changing customer service hours.  The new hours will be 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The offices will remain closed until 1 p.m. on Wednesdays to allow for training in an effort to improve the service provided.

 

Summer Hire Program

Units interested in a temp summer hire should notify the Civilian Personnel Office by Friday, including the type of duties the summer hire would perform with the request. These positions are classified at the GS-03 Laborer/Clerk level. Resumes will be accepted next Wednesday. Contact Fred Tongol at 567-5796 or Alisha Davis at 567-5221 for more information.

 

Legal Office Weekly Briefings

The 50th Space Wing Legal Office provides the following briefings Fridays:

Article 137 re-enlistment briefing – 8 a.m.

Deployment briefings - 9 a.m.

Legal office court requirement: Before appearing and/or testifying in court in their unofficial capacity, all Air Force members are required to meet with the legal office.

Logistics planner retraining opportunities

The Air Force Logistics Plans specialty career field is continually seeking enlisted personnel to retrain as logistics planners. For more information, contact Ed Smith at 567-3082.

 

KMC to provide training

The Knowledge Management Center is providing reoccurring training/classes for the Knowledge Management programs. Classes are held in Building 301, Room 119, every first Thursday of the month. Records Management is held 12 - 1:30 p.m. and Freedom of Information Privacy Act is held 1:45 –

AFCEA Luncheon

Rocky Mountain AFCEA Chapter Luncheon is Thursday at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.

This month's special guest speaker is Lt. Col. Michael Chiaramonte, Air Force Cyberworx director.

Military Retirees Activities Office

The Military Retiree Activities Office holds monthly council meetings the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. On May 9 it will be at the Peterson Air Force Base Golf Course Club House, followed by lunch at 12:45 p.m. The guest speaker will be Maile Gray, from Drive Smart Colorado. The Society of Military Widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month 10:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Registration for the 2019 FA40 Training Forum is open

The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command’s Army Space Personnel Development Office is scheduled to host  the 2019 Annual FA40 Training Forum Aug. 13 - 16 at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.  

This year’s forum will take place in the main conference room of Building 920 where TS-SCI briefings are scheduled. 

Registration is open to all members of the Army Space Cadre.

The registration process is not complete without submission of a TS-SCI Visit Access Request, by the member’s organizational special security officer unless he/she possesses a current PAFB/SMDC green badge. VAR information is located on the registration page.
