Printable Fact Sheet
The 14th Test Squadron, the only space test squadron in the Air Force Reserve, is located at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo.
A fully integrated partner, providing continuity of vital test expertise in support of Air Force space systems testing
Enhance Air Force Space Command's support to the warfighter through testing and evaluation of space forces.
Parent Unit: 310th Space Wing
The 14 TS enhances Air Force Space Command's (AFSPC) warfighting capabilities through testing and evaluation of space systems. The 14 TS is a Reserve Associate Unit (RAU) to the 17th Test Squadron (17 TS) and provides short term manpower surge capabilities along with long term test continuity. The 14 TS is a fully integrated operational testing partner within the USAF Warefare Center and 53d Wing providing vital Information Assurance and space Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) expertise. The squadron is composed of four innovative flights.
The Specialized Test Flight (STF) provides a scoped, low cost and agile OT&E resource for AFSPC systems. The flight specializes in rapid system delivery to the warfighter supporting non-traditional and traditional acquisition program testing. The STF utilizes flexible OT&E events conducted as Operational Utility Evaluations to support fielding, acceptance or acquisition milestone decisions for programs with little to no available funding for test. Test results provide senior AFSPC decision makers a measure of system effectiveness and suitability while assessing current system risk meant to help leaders make sound system decisions. The SFT also provides a capability to execute Tactics Development and Evaluations, a tailored form of testing specifically designed to further exploit doctrine, system capabilities, tactics, techniques and procedures.
The Information Assurance and Cyber Security Flights (IAF/CSF) provides world-class System Vulnerability Assessments, including Penetration Testing capabilities to AFSPC weapon systems. This unbiased evaluation approach provides warfighters the necessary information to be a step ahead of any adversary to include internal and external threats. The flights are composed of hand-selected, highly trained Certified Ethical Hackers (CEH) complying with DoD Directive 8570. All team members exercise their skills on a daily basis through employment with commercial industry or the Department of Defense. The flights strive to be the leaders of Information Assurance and Vulnerability Assessment testing and reporting yielding little to no cost to their customers.
Technical Advisory Flight (TEA) ensures a consistent and sound technical approach for all OT. This includes maintaining the integrity of the analysis process and developing and maintaining an Information Assurance testing strategy. TEA interfaces with the 17 TS technical advisors, analysts and all the other flights to maintain validity and consistency in test processes and analytical methods.
Training, Weapons and Tactics Element enhances squadron operations by establishing squadron training standards; managing Unit Training, supplemental training, and ancillary training; and managing Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) education (if required). The element also serves as the squadron focal point for interaction with the AFSPC TTP development program.
On 1 Oct 00, Air Force Reserve Command activated the 14 TS as a RAU to the 17 TS.
On 1 Oct 08, the 14 TS realigned squadron assets to pursue innovative OT&E mission support.
As of 1 Oct 10, the 14 TS has actively participated in 26 operational tests supporting AFSPC systems.
