CHIEF MASTER SGT. GARY L. BROWN

Chief Master Sergeant Gary L. Brown is the Command Chief Master Sergeant to the Commander of the 310th Space Wing, Schriever Air Force Base, Colo. Chief Brown represents the over 1000 members of the wing, functioning as the enlisted force liaison to the commander, leading the enlisted force as well as advising commanders on matters impacting their enlisted force, such as proper utilization, quality of enlisted leadership management, supervisor training, operations tempo, and quality of life issues. He monitors compliance with Air Force standards, serves on advisory councils and maintains close relationships with local community leaders. The chief ensures that the commander's policies are known and understood by all Airmen and serves as the functional manager for assigned first sergeants.

Chief Brown came to the 310th Space Wing from the 302nd Security Forces Squadron, 302nd Airlift Wing, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Some of his responsibilities were providing the squadron commanders a mission-ready enlisted force to execute and support the force protection mission of airbase operations, C-130 resources and personnel, along with future TFI initiatives. Chief Brown also served and coordinated closely with numbered air forces and Air Force Reserve Command.

Chief Brown entered the armed forces in 1982 with the U.S. Army. He entered training as a field artillery cannon crewman later receiving training as a special weapons supervisor for the assembly and deployment of nuclear weapons. He joined the Air Force Reserve in 1991 and received training as a security forces member. Chief Brown has deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, SHINE HOPE, FUNDEMENTAL JUSTICE, NOBLE EAGLE, IRAQI FREEDOM and UNIFIED RESPONSE. Chief Brown has served as a member of the Phoenix Raven Program/Raven 597 supporting the counterdrug contingency Operations PALMETTO GHOST and CORONET OAK in the SOUTHCOM AOR. Lastly, Chief Brown also served as the 506th Air Expeditionary Force Group superintendent and the base chief for Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq, leading over 950 airman in providing a secure base of operations for more than 6000 coalition forces, Department of State personnel, the Iraqi Air Force, as well local/third country nationals for the only stand alone Air Force Base in the AOR.
