Colonel Stephen E. Slade serves as Vice Commander, 310th Space Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado. As Vice Commander, he assists the Commander in leading 950 personnel in support of multiple military and civilian organizations spanning a wide variety of space operations missions and operating systems valued at more than $46 billion. The 310 SW is also responsible for providing support to Air Force Space Command's security forces missions, the Combined Space
Operations Center (CSpOC), and the Space Education and Training Center (SETC).
Colonel Slade received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Utah State University. He served in a variety of active duty space and missile operations and staff positions, including Minuteman III ICBM and MILSTAR operations squadrons, a test squadron, 50th Operations Group, and United States Strategic Command. Transitioning into the Air Force Reserve, Colonel Slade served in a variety of positions on multiple joint commands and the Air Staff. Recalled to active duty in 2009, he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as the Expeditionary Cyber Support Element officer-in-charge, Deputy Chief of Staff Communication, International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. Prior to his current position, he was the Operations Group Commander, 310th Space Wing.
