PAFB to host Let’s Have a Conversation about Teen Suicide
The Youth Documentary Academy in partnership with Family Advocacy invites you to see two films made by Pikes Peak region teens about teen suicide. The films are called “Surviving” and “Under the Wire.” Both films offer an unfiltered account of suicide from a teen perspective. The screenings will be held at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, 4 – 5 p.m. Wednesday. The screenings are free and open to all with access to PAFB. Kansas City Chiefs cheerleaders to host a meet and greet
Kansas City Chiefs cheerleaders are hosting a meet and greet for Schriever Airmen 4 - 5 p.m. Friday in the Schriever event center. For more information, contact the 50th Force Support Squadron's Marketing office at 567-5362.

Fire Prevention Week

Fire prevention week is Oct. 7 - 13. Protect your family from fire with these tips:
1. Install smoke alarms on each level of your home, outside each sleeping area and inside each bedroom.
2. Install carbon monoxide alarms on each level of your home and within 15 feet of sleeping areas
3. Post emergency numbers such as fire/police; poison control; and utilities.
4. Know where your emergency shut-offs are (gas/water/electric).
5. Have a multipurpose fire extinguisher inside your home; keep a safe distance from your stove for access.
6. Have an escape plan: know two ways out and have a meeting point.

Military Retirees Activities Office
The Military Retiree Activities Office holds its monthly council meeting the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Falcon Parkway repairs
Falcon Parkway will be reduced to single-lane access until Sept. 29. The traffic circle will be unaffected by construction. For more information, contact Staff Sgt. Marquis Williams at 567-4323.

PA looking for Air Force Marathon attendees
For Schriever Airmen participating in the Air Force Marathon Saturday at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, contact the Public Affairs office at 567-5040. We are looking for selfie submissions, photos and videos of the event highlighting Schriever Airmen.

EMF to host National Preparedness Month information booths
Each September, National Preparedness Month encourages and reminds Americans to be prepared for disasters or emergencies in their homes, businesses and communities. The Schriever Emergency Management Flight will host National Preparedness Month information booths at the following locations to raise awareness:

Schriever AFB to hold POW/MIA 24-hour run
In remembrance of those who have given their freedom for ours, Schriever Air Force Base will be holding a 24-hour vigil run. The opening ceremony will feature guest speaker and former POW, Lt. Robert Wideman 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17 in Building 210 courtyard. The vigil run will start at 10 a.m. Sept. 18, running until 10 a.m. Sept. 19 at the fitness center parking lot. The closing ceremony will take place 1 p.m. Sept. 21 at the fitness center with a speech from Lt. Wideman. To volunteer for the event, contact Tech. Sgt. Matthew Barbett at 567-5272 or Tech. Sgt. 50th SW Chaplain’s office to host family retreat

2018 Green Dot Program refresher class registration
Annual Green Dot Refresher Classes occur 2 - 3 p.m. Tuesdays, and 8 - 9 a.m. Fridays in the Building 300 Auditorium. All classes must be completed by Oct. 31. AFOSI to host counter-intelligence awareness briefings
The Schriever Air Force Office of Special Investigations will conduct counter-intelligence awareness briefings on the first and third Wednesday of every month in the Building 300 auditorium. Briefings will be at 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday and 8 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month. No registration is necessary, and sign-in sheets will be provided at each briefing. KMC to provide training
The Knowledge Management Center is providing reoccurring training/classes for the Knowledge Management programs. Classes will be held in Building 301, Room 119, every first and third Thursday of the month. Records Management will be held 12 – 1 p.m. and Freedom of Information-Privacy Act will be held 1:45 – 3:15 p.m. Publications and Forms class will be held 1 – 3 p.m. every third Thursday of the month. Logistics planner retraining opportunities

Legal Office changes operating hours
The 50th Space Wing Legal Office is closed daily from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. The office will also be closed 7:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. every Thursday. If you have a deployment-related issue or need to contact a member of the staff, call 567-5050 for assistance.

Legal office court requirement
Before appearing and/or testifying in court in their unofficial capacity, all Air Force members are required to meet with the legal office. For more information, call 567-5050.

MetroRides Vanpool provides openings
MetroRides Vanpool is a government subsidized program for all Department of Defense Civil Service employees and active duty military. There is no out of pocket expense for DoD vanpool participants. Contractors may also participate. The route starts at the Safeway shopping center parking lot in Fountain, Colorado, departing at 6:05 a.m. and arriving at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, at 6:30 a.m. The vanpool departs Schriever AFB at 4 p.m. and arrives back at Safeway at 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The 5th Annual Creek Week cleanup to begin
The Creek Week cleanup is open for registration and will be Sept. 29 – Oct 7. The cleanup aims to bring the Fountain Creek, Colorado, watershed communities together to foster the health of local waterways for citizens and wildlife alike. Noncommissioned Officer Association recruitment
The Noncommissioned Officer Association Air Academy Chapter is recruiting. It's a great opportunity to meet former chiefs and make a difference in the community. Society of Military Widows holds meeting
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month, 10:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. USAFA to host Farish Recreation Area Walk
The United States Air Force Academy Outdoor Recreation Center and the Falcon Wanderers Walking Club invite you to the Farish Recreation Area Walk Sept. 22. The walk will start at the Conference Center at 12005 Rampart Range Road, Woodland Park. This event is free and open to the public. Register to walk any time between 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. with a finish time by 3 p.m. Large-wheeled strollers can complete the courses with difficulty, but wheelchairs are not recommended.
