Chapel team provides Angel Trees throughout base

The 50th Space Wing Chaplain’s Office is running this year’s Angel Tree event. Airmen are encouraged to pick one angel, candy cane, or bell hanging on a tree and give back to the local community. Trees will be in the Building 210 atrium, Satellite Dish Dining Facility and Tierra Vista Community Center Nov. 16 – Dec. 8. The chapel team suggests gifts are at least $30, in total, per child. Gifts can be dropped at the 50th SW Chaplain's Office in Building 300 room 149, or the satellite chapel office in Building 210, room 270, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Dec. 10 – 14. Health Promotion activities

The Health Promotion office has several events taking place during the next few weeks:

5/6 Council to host Thanksgiving drive

The 5/6 Council Thanksgiving drive is now until Monday in the following locations: the Building 210 atrium, the North Entry Control Portals, Shoppette and Building 24 at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado. The drive benefits Colorado Springs local community outreach groups such as the Women’s Resource Center, Salvation Army and the Colorado Springs Mission. They need non-perishable items such as canned vegetables, canned sweet potatoes/yams, canned gravy, cranberry sauce, instant mashed potatoes, stove top stuffing, biscuits or rolls, mac and cheese, roasting pans, cake/brownie mix or any other nonperishable food items. Shred truck to arrive

The shred truck is set to be outside the North Entry Control Portal 9 – 11 a.m., and outside of Building 210 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday.

 

 

50th CONS job opportunity available

The 50th Contracting Squadron is seeking qualified candidates for the Chief, Plans and Programs Flight position. The position is responsible for serving as a supervisory procurement analyst for a Plans and Programs contracting flight, providing planning, direction, organization, coordinating and supervising activities of assigned personnel. AAFES to enact holiday hours for Thanksgiving

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service on Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, will implement its holiday hours Nov. 22 - 23. The Barber Shop and Dunkin’ Donuts in Building 210 will be closed both days. The shoppette is open 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Nov. 22 and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Nov 23. For more information, go to aafes.com.

MetroRides Vanpool provides openings

MetroRides Vanpool is a government subsidized program for all Department of Defense Civil Service employees and active duty military. There is no out of pocket expense for DoD vanpool participants, contractors may also participate. The route starts North Powers and Old Ranch Road and departs at 6:35 a.m. arriving at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, at 7:30 a.m. The vanpool departs Schriever AFB at 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. 50th SW to host Wing Holiday Party

The 50th Space Wing will host the annual Wing Holiday Party Dec. 7 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 1775 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dress is holiday attire (no jeans). Ticket prices are E1-E4 and G1-GS6 $10, O1-O3, E5-E6 and GS7-GS11 $20, O4 and above, E7 and above, GS12 and above and contractors $30. For more information, contact Staff Sgt. Air Force Academy looking for volunteer families

The U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School is looking for volunteer sponsor families to build a professional mentoring relationship and provide a home-away-from-home for the cadet candidates. Sponsoring provides students with a local family support system, adult role models and an avenue for community involvement that would ultimately continue for the duration of their time beginning here at the Prep School, into their journey to the Air Force Academy, and beyond. Military Child of the Year open for nominations

Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit that builds strong, stable and secure military families, is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Military Child of the Year Awards, as well as applications for the 2019 Military Child of the Year Award for Innovation. Military Child of the Year is the nation's premier celebration of the achievements of military children. Nominations are open through Dec. 5, and all awards will be presented at a recognition gala April 18, 2019, in the nation's capital. Society of Military Widows holds meeting

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month, 10:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Military Retirees Activities Office

The Military Retiree Activities Office holds monthly council meeting the second Thursday of each month     at 11:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.
