Monthly Promotion Recognition Ceremony

Clinic Holiday Closures

The Schriever AFB clinic will close at noon Aug. 30 and reopen Sept. 3. Visit www.schriever.af.mil for more information about services and clinic hours.

Irwin (West) Gate Construction: Plan Accordingly

Morning commuters who use the Irwin Gate may experience minor traffic delays 6-8 a.m. until Aug. 29. The detour will route inbound traffic through the left inbound lane and the main outbound lane.

9/11 Memorial Soccer Tournament

Schriever Air Force Base will host a base-wide 9/11 memorial soccer tournament Sept. 9-11 at Schriever AFB. For more information about the event, email Senior Airman Hernando Ortega at hernando.ortega.1@us.af.mil or Capt. Rahni Moon at rahni.moon@us.af.mil to sign-up or for more information.

Fitness Center Adjusts Manning

Fitness center staff will no longer provide coverage on federal holidays and family days associated with Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Customers who are registered for after-hours access can still use the fitness center during these days. After-hours access is available 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. To register for after-hours access, or for more details, call the fitness center front desk at 567-6628.

Survey: Where Airmen Get Information

Please take a moment to answer a few questions about the sources you find most useful when obtaining official information. The purpose of this survey is to provide the 50th Space Wing commander insight into where and how Schriever Airmen get official information. The commander will use these results to leverage current communication tools, and possibly incorporate new ones, to best serve and communicate with the base population.

Town Hall for Cyberspace Support Airmen

Chief Master Sgt. Daniel Whitcomb, Air Force Space Command Cyberspace Support career field functional manager, will host a town hall for Airmen in the 3D career field family 2-4 p.m. Sept. 12, at the fitness center on Schriever AFB. For more information, call Staff Sgt. Benjamin Sohn at 567-2346.

Air Force Seeks Logistics Planners

9/11 Commemoration Ceremony

A free community event to remember the lives lost Sept. 11, 2001, is scheduled 10-11 a.m. Sept. 11 at Memorial Park in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. Retired Gen. Richard B. Myers will give remarks.

Run for the Fallen

The Colorado Run for the Fallen is scheduled 7 a.m. Sept. 14-15 and will go from Fort Carson, Colorado, to Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. Colorado Homeless Veterans Stand Down

The El Paso County Homeless Veterans Coalition will host a stand down to support Colorado homeless veterans 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 15, at the Colorado Springs Auditorium, Colorado. Several military, veteran and community support organizations will provide a variety of services and products, such as clothing, personal care items, haircuts, flu shots, dental and hearing testing, housing referrals, and help with job searches. Military Retirees Activities Office

The Military Retiree Activity Office hosts a monthly meeting for all military retirees and their spouses on the second Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled Sept. 12 at the Peterson Air Force Base Golf Course club house. The guest speaker for the event is Hilary Bryant from Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center.

The Society of Military Widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in The Club at Peterson AFB, Colorado.
