A picture is worth a thousand words. In this day and age, a picture is usually used as the words. Social media has enabled the average person to take a photo of anything and post it for the world to see. Websites dedicated to sharing photos, editing photos and allowing the user to comment on photos can be found everywhere.

"Photogs" around the world celebrate National Camera Day June 29. Team Schriever wants all Schrieverites to celebrate the day throughout the entire month of July by snapping photos and posting them on its installation Facebook site.

The Schriever Public Affairs staff prides itself on being able to tell the Schriever story through award winning articles, radio and video pieces and of course, photos. However, the staff's perspective at times can be narrow. Just look at the numbers, there are eight PA professionals and more than 8,000 Team Schriever members.

At the beginning of 2013 we asked the members of Team Schriever to 'Picture This.' We wanted everyone to take pictures of different objects and events that are unique to Schriever and the local area. We received 179 photos taken by you. The campaign encouraged the professional, the amateur, the young, the experienced and even the deployer to get out and capture the essence of Team Schriever.

Later on, we highlighted one of Team Schriever's more recognizable units with Geocaching Schriever. This treasure hunt allowed Team Schriever the opportunity to highlight GPS in one of its most prominent uses, navigation. Photos were still the highlight of the campaign. Every person who participated was encouraged to take a photo of themselves with the cache, documented their participation.

Though GPS and the 2nd Space Operations Squadron is important, Team Schriever is made up of numerous units and mission partners that play an integral part in Air Force Space Command and the Air Force's mission. Team Schriever brings a lot to the fight.
The public affairs office wants to highlight the different mission partners and units on Schriever Air Force Base on our new Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/SchrieverAirForceBase. During the month of July, we are encouraging everyone to celebrate their unique piece of the fight and their pride in their unit, through photos of their patch, unit symbol or logo.

We want you all to celebrate your 'brand.' Print out a copy of your unit patch, logo or symbol and take a photo of it at different places around the base, local area or community. The sky is the limit. We want to know where your brand has been. Load that photo up onto the Schriever Air Force Base Facebook page or send it to 50swpa.workflow@us.af.mil and we will share your photos.

Photos of brands can be taken anywhere (where photos are allowed to be taken). Each day on the Schriever Air Force Base Facebook page a new idea of where to take your brand will be published. The unit, squadron or group whose brand has been the most places throughout the month of July will receive a prize. The photo with the most likes will also win a prize for its author.
