Col. Jeffrey Mineo, 310th Space Wing commander, was on Capitol Hill Sept. 20 to brief elected officials and Congressional staffers on the capabilities and contributions that the wing and the Air Force Reserve provide.

"My goal is to increase awareness of who we are as 310th Space Wing Reservists," said Mineo. "The majority of our space operators live in the local community and work in the space industry - we get to leverage that expertise for free."

Mineo discussed how the only Reserve space wing in the Air Force delivers space and cyberspace power for pennies on the dollar efficiency.

"Our scalability allows us to work short-term surge requirements without maintaining a long-term cost footprint, saving taxpayer dollars," said Mineo. "It's important for members of Congress to know what we contribute to the Total Force as they consider important budget and policy decisions."

The Air Force Reserve Capitol Hill Visit Program requires wing commanders to visit their Congressional delegations annually. These engagements allow Members and their staffs to gain insight into Air Force Reserve and Air Force priorities and concerns. That insight allows them to make informed legislative decisions on Air Force Reserve and Air Force programs, policies, plans, and personnel.
