Ma. Cynthia Marcello assumed command of the 310th Force Support Squadron from the outgoing commander, Lt. Col. Kevin Graefe, at an emotional and heartfelt change-of-command ceremony on April 15 at the newly completed Air Reserve Personnel Center.

The ceremony was attended by, Col. Jeffrey Mineo the 310th Space Wing commander, Col. Pamela Lincoln the 310SW vice commander and Master Sgt. Gary Brown the 310SW command chief. Family members of the incoming and outgoing commanders and friends were also in attendance, the 310th FSS Airman bid hail and farewell to the outgoing commander and welcomed the new inbound commander.

Marcello, the sustainment services flight commander, assumed this command after departing from the 310 Sustainment Services Flight within the 310th Force Support Squadron. Before that position, she was the chief of military equal opportunity with the 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson Air Force Base.

"She is entering the FSS during a time of great transition. This change-of-command ceremony took place prior to the de-commissioning of the 710 Communications Flight," said Col. Todd Laughman. "A job well done, celebrate ... mission accomplished."

"Maj. Marcello has a great amount of experience and she is as close to ready to take on the job as possible," said Laughman.

Graefe, a force support squadron commander, also served in Illinois, Virginia and Colorado.

'My old boss once said, "If leaving was easy then you didn't do your job right,"' said Graefe.

In a token of appreciation for his service, Graefe was presented with a meritorious service medal and a final salute by his command. The incoming commander was hailed with a welcoming salute by the command as well.

As the ceremony ended, the assembled party departed with the knowledge that new missions will continue to arise and give way to new challenges. The military customs and traditions exemplified in the ceremony and events surrounding it, served as proof that indeed, nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force.
