7 SOPS wins Junior Enlisted Council basketball tournament Published May 6, 2012 By Senior Airman Joshua White 310th Space Wing SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- During the Sunday unit training assembly on February 12, the 310th Space Wing Junior Enlisted Council hosted their first basketball tournament to help raise money for the Annual Awards Banquet. There were seven teams that participated with OGV taking 3rd place, 6 SOPS taking 2nd place and 7 SOPS taking 1st place. The players on the team of OGV were Capt. Matthew Pincus, Capt. Randy Halfpop, and Senior Master Sgt. Dan Lehmann. The players on the team of 6 SOPS were 1st Lt. Cody Smith, Staff Sgt. Jared Cleghorn, and Senior Airman Patrick Martineau. The players on the team of 7 SOPS were Maj. Andreas Ballard, Capt. Jeffrey Jenkins, and Tech. Sgt. Tim Baptist. There was positive feedback so the JEC is planning another basketball tournament later in the year and they are hoping for more participation. There will be a traveling championship belt awarded to 7 SOPS and the belt will be in jeopardy at each of events that the JEC hosts. The next event will be a field day during the June UTA.
