Members of the 710th Security Forces Squadron are preparing to take part in a 17-day security forces ground combat skills training exercise called Patriot Defender in March at Fort Wolters Military Reservation, Mineral Wells, Texas.
The security forces training exercise includes Air Force Reserve, active duty and Air National Guard security forces personnel who train together in combat skills training. The training is intensive and encompasses a wide range of combat tactics and operations. The security forces members also have the opportunity to use the 9 line Medical Evacuation and IED/UXO. It is standardized and more efficient system for calling for help or to report findings of questionable objects.
The squad also will participate in convoy training, foot and vehicle patrols, reacting to improvised explosive devices, hand grenade training, writing and executing operations orders, land navigation, manning checkpoints and listening/observation posts, and mounted operations using simulation rounds.
