19 SOPS captain dies of injuries suffered in car accident

Capt. Vivian Elmo, an Air Force Active Guard Reservist assigned to the 310th Space Wing, died in a two-car accident Aug.3 at approximately 3:45 pm in the intersection of Highway 94 and Curtis Road.

Elmo was pronounced dead on-scene at 4:16 p.m due to wounds sustained during the accident while the other driver was transported to a local medical facility.

"The 310th Space Wing is a close-knit family and we're devastated," said Col. Jeffrey Mineo, 310 SW commander. "Captain Elmo was a rising star within our ranks. I extend my deepest personal condolences to the family and friends of Captain Elmo."

Elmo, 41, was a Louisiana native with over 20 years military service.

Colorado State Patrol is in charge of the scene of the accident and investigation. The accident is currently under investigation.
