General Stenner talks issues with 310th SW

Air Force Reserve Command Commander Lt. Gen. Charles E. Stenner Jr. held a town-hall meeting to discuss Reserve issues with the 310th Space Wing at Buckley Air Force Base, Colo., on Nov. 29.
General Stenner, who was in town briefly for the Air Reserve Personnel Center change of command, met with members of the 310th Space Wing staff and missions support group in the 310th Mission Support Group/Aero Medical Dental Flight Building to talk about topic ranging from future Reserve space wings to the fitness program. The general also fielded questions from the audience, encouraging them to ask questions regarding any AFRC issues or concerns.
General Stenner talked about how he sees the Air Force Reserve in the Air Force and Total Force structure - a Strategic Reserve of Citizen Warriors, and also where he sees the mission of the 310th SW as well the future of space and cyber mission in the Reserve.
General Stenner emphasized the importance of employers to the Reserve capability while outlining the three parts of the Citizen warrior's life.
"It is crucial that we maintain balance by managing the triad: reserve job, civilian job, and family," said General Stenner. "For Reservists, this relationship is similar to a three-legged stool because without the firm support of any of these components it cannot be properly sustained."
General Stenner ended the Town Hall meeting with comments on professional development for Airmen. He challenged vvery Airman to take responsibility for developing themselves personally and professionally with development plans being key. General Stenner said that top job are obtainable. To become a senior leader, a Reservist must also work at the numbered Air Force, major command and national capital region levels, as well as have joint experience. He recommended finding a mentor and learning from that person.
