Members of the 310th Space Wing took June's leadership theme of "Fitness" to heart by participating in the 4th annual Veterans' Home Run 5K in Pine Valley at the Air Force Academy June 27.
The event promoted and raised funds for the Crawford House, a Colorado Springs non-profit organization that serves the homeless military veterans of southern Colorado. Its mission is to provide a structured living environment for veterans undergoing treatment for drug and alcohol abuse and help assist homeless veterans in stepping back into the community.
Both 7th Space Operations Squadron and 19th Space Operations Squadron put together teams to compete in the Coed Team category; 19 SOPS took first place and the trophy and 7 SOPS took second place out of six teams.
19 SOPS was represented by Maj. Tami Wise (who finished with a time of 23:20 and took first in her age category); Master Sergeants Ana Dominguez and Ray Souz; and Technical Sgt. Scott Hollister.
7 SOPS was represented by Lt. Colonels Hung Tang and William Fellows; Maj. Jennifer Waller; Captains Aaron Pinson (who finished with a time of 18:21 and took 2nd in his age category) and Teina Stallings-Lilly; and Senior Master Sgt. Jeffrey Buell.
Also participating and representing the 310th Space Wing were Majors Mike Allen (310th Communications Flight) and Amanda Fellows (Reserve National Security Space Institute); and Master Sgt. Gerard Lopez of the 310th Military Personnel Flight.
Retired Col. Jack Anthony, a former 1st Space Operations Squadron commander, is one of the organizers of the event.
A tremendous effort by all.
