SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- It’s lunch time and your stomach begins to grumble. What are your lunch options? For more than 16 years, Schriever has seen many vendors come and go, but it is important to know what the Master of Space has now.
“This year, we have aggressively started to get more trucks out because people have asked for more things. So we are getting more and more out here and so long as people will support it, then they are going to keep coming,” said Thea Wasche.
The food trucks generate more food options for more than 7,500 people on base, a location that is geographically separated from restaurants in town.
“The food trucks are run through the vending program part of Army Air Force Exchange Service, so really we started in 2001 with a company called Cruising Cuisine. The program and the base were a lot smaller back then,” said Thea Wasche, 50th Force Support Squadron deputy commander.
“The food options on base add more variety to what we have here at Schriever. For the longest time, it was only the dining facility and one food truck,” said Staff Sgt. Morris Thomas, 50th Space Wing Safety office. We have more variety and convenience with food now.”
