American Idol winner and rock star David Cook will rock the Front Range during his concert Sept. 16 at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado.

“Hey ... I just wanted to say I am excited to come play a show for you guys on Sept. 16. I hope to see you there,” said Cook during his video message for the installation.

Party begins at 4 p.m. while the concert starts at 5 p.m. Personnel and family members from Front Range installations may attend, as long as they have access to come on base.

“We are excited for David Cook to come here and play a concert for us,” said Karen Draper, 50th Force Support Squadron Sustainment Services Flight chief and the lead coordinator for the event.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to have a personal meet-and-greet session with Cook prior to his concert.

“All they need to do is take a selfie with one of the David Cook cutouts in various locations on base, post it on the Schriever Air Force Base Facebook page and the top five photos with the most likes or reactions will win,” said 2nd Lt. Sarah D’Alessandro, 50 FSS Sustainment Services Flight deputy.

The cutouts are located in Building 210, Schriever Fitness Center, Child Development Center, Airman and Family Readiness Center and Tierra Vista Communities center. Although the contest is open to everyone, no more than three individuals may be in the photo.

Individuals may also borrow the cutout from Draper or D’Alessandro if they want to use them off base or other locations. The deadline for the contest is 1 p.m. Sept. 14 while the winners will be announced Sept. 15.

“Please keep in mind that you are posting on a government page and representing the Air Force,” Draper said. “Please make sure you don’t post something you don’t want your grandma or mom to see.”

Moreover, the concert features food trucks, bounces houses and slides. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the concert. Additionally, attendees may use #DavidCookRocksFrontRange when posting photos on social media sites.

“This is going to be a fun event. See you there,” said D’Alessandro.
