Col. Traci Kueker-Murphy assumed command of the 310th Space Wing in a change-of-command ceremony Sept. 17.
Kueker-Murphy assumed command from Col. Damon Feltman, who was the commander since July 2014.  The presiding officer for the ceremony was Maj. Gen. Richard Scobee, 10th Air Force commander.
In his final comments to the wing, Feltman thanked those he commanded.  "To the Airmen of the 310th Space Wing, first and foremost thank you for being such outstanding Airmen and for making my command tour so fabulous."
During his remarks, Scobee praised the Airmen of the 310th.  "Space cuts across all the other domains and the job you do as Airmen directly correlates to mission success," said Scobee.  "Without you we fail."
"Traci is no stranger to the space business and the 310th Space Wing.  She is exactly what we need here to continue our successes across the total force." Scobee added.
Kueker-Murphy has a long association with the 310th Space Wing.  She talked about coming back to Schriever in her remarks.  "I am overjoyed and blessed to be home," said Kueker-Murphy.  "When I drove on to Schreiver after not being here for two and ½ years it felt like I never left."
"I am deeply honored to command Airmen of such caliber in this organization," Kueker-Murphy said to the 310th members in the audience.  "Each of you brings something special, each of you brings something amazing to the mission.  Each of you form the fiber of this family of professionals."
Concluding her remarks, Kueker-Murphy talked about her role as commander.  "I'm your biggest fan.  It's easy to get behind people with passion like you have.  So I promise you that I'm going to plough the road, I'm going to get your obstacles out of the way so you can do your mission and go home to your families and your civilian jobs."
After seven years on active-duty Kueker-Murphy began her Reserve career at the 310th Space Group in 1998.  She served in numerous capacities in almost 16 years at Schriever AFB, culminating in being the commander of the 310th Operations Group.  In 2014 she left to become the Deputy Director of Staff, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins AFB, Georgia.  She now becomes the fifth 310th Space Wing commander since it became a wing in 2008. The 310th is the only space wing in Air Force Reserve Command.
