50 SW hosts promotion ceremony 
The monthly wing promotion ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the base fitness center. For more information, contact Master Sgt. Daniel Rhodes at 567-2168.

Schriever housing offers family/women’s Christian fellowship
A family Bible study will be held at the Tierra Vista Community Center 6:30-8 p.m. every Wednesday. Come join us for inspiring worship, Bible study and prayer. Families are welcome. Childcare and separate kids activities for 10 and under provided. Starting Oct.4, every Tuesday there will women’s Bible study 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at the TVCC. Schriever to kick-off CFC
As part of the 2016 Combined Federal Campaign, Schriever can look forward to a KnockerBall tournament 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at the Schriever gym. To register, or for more information, contact Master Sgt. Ryan Laube at 567-6817.

50 CES to repair north entrapment
The 50th Civil Engineer Squadron Gates and Barrier contractor will be repairing the North entrapment outbound barrier 8 a.m. - noon Thursday. The inbound side of the entrapment will still be operational. 

Schriever chiefs serves barbecue
The Schriever Week will conclude with the Chief’s Barbecue 11 a.m. Friday at the Schriever Fitness Center pavilion. Join us and enjoy free burgers, brats, hotdogs, chips and drinks. Also cheer for your favorite team at the corn-hole tournament.

Show your strength at Warrior Run
The Schriever Week Warrior Run is 8 a.m. Friday at the Schriever Fitness Center. The 1-mile obstacle course include puzzle solving, team carry and weighted obstacle carry. Each team must consist of six members. There will be a prize for the victorious team. For more information or to register, contact Capt. Kyle Rimando at 567-5486.

Shuttle schedule to update
Shuttle service is available to all Peterson Air Force Base dorm residents and technical training school students assigned to Schriever Air Force Base.

Shuttle service will run Monday through Friday, to exclude holidays and family days.  The shuttle service will run as scheduled during weather delays/early release, but will not run if SAFB and/or PAFB is closed due to bad weather.  Any questions, concerns and feedback regarding the shuttle service should be directed to David Collins at 567-3365.

DOD offers Blended Retirement System Q&A
The Department of Defense's new #BlendedRetirement System will be the subject of a Facebook Q&A on Thursday, Sept. 29 from 1-2 p.m. EDT. All service members and family members are invited to join. Be sure to RSVP at https://www.facebook.com/ASDMRA/events, and post your questions on the event page to have them answered by a team of experts during the Q&A.

On-base

CES after-hours issues now resolved
The phone transfer issues within the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron Customer Service have been resolved.  Customers may now dial 567-2300 or 567-6544 for all after-hours infrastructure or facility emergencies, such as, electrical and water outages etc. 

Fire Prevention Week: Protect your family from fire
As part of Fire Prevention Week, the Schriever Fire Department offers the following tips for protecting your family from fire:

1. Install smoke alarms on each level of your home, outside each sleeping area and inside each bedroom. 
2. Install carbon monoxide alarms on each level of your home and outside sleeping areas (within 15 feet).
3. Post emergency numbers (fire, police, poison control, water, gas and electric utilities).
4. Know where your emergency shut-offs are for gas, water and electricity.
5. Have a multipurpose fire extinguisher inside your home; keep a safe distance from your stove for access.
6. Have an escape plan. Know two ways out and have a meeting point.  Contact fire prevention at 567-3370.

Clinic announces closures
The Schriever Clinic will be closed the following dates/times:

Note: The clinic closes Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. for physical training. Normal clinic hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For emergencies, call 911. For appointments, call 524-CARE.

EO career field open for retraining

The Equal Opportunity career field is looking for Airmen and NCOs wishing to join. EO is currently seeking approximately 20 first term Airmen between now and July 1, 2017, for retraining. Scheduling for NCO retraining will occur at a later date. NCOs and Airmen are encouraged to coordinate with their career field managers before completing the 15-day observation period requirement to apply.  For more information, contact Master Sgt. Register for Green Dot training
Registration is now open for Green Dot overview sessions (to meet the 2016 Sexual Assault Prevention and Response requirement). All personnel may register for an overview session on the FSS SharePoint site. If you initially get a "denied access" error, simply press the request access link in the bottom of the error box and you will receive an email when access is granted. Classes are offered 2 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. every Friday in the Building 300 auditorium. Class sizes are limited to 50 personnel.

Schriever offers couples workshop 
Team Schriever is hosting a couples workshop “Intimate Allies” 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in Building 210 Room 310. The workshop is facilitated by Dr. Ken Robinson, a retired chaplain and a trained marriage and family therapist. Team Schriever tailgates at AF vs NAVY game
Come support the USAFA Fighting Falcons Saturday as we try to sink Navy!  Tailgate festivities begin at 10 a.m. and there will be free food and drinks to include: hamburgers, hotdogs, brauts and more! There will also be a bounce house for the kids and a Beat Navy poster competition. The spouses group will hold a dessert competition as well. So come on out and support the 50th and watch the Falcons sink Navy. Recommend bringing chairs. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer contact 2nd Lt. Kelley Kennedy at 567-5047.

Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for more information.

Academy cadet sponsor program looking for volunteers
The U.S. Air Force Academy is looking for volunteer sponsor families to build a professional mentoring relationship and provide a home-away-from-home for cadets. The program needs about 180 families to sponsor cadets. Sponsors must be at least O-3 for officers, E-6 for enlisted and GS-05 for civilian. The program is designed to provide new cadets mentorship, offering active-duty and retired military personnel and civilians in the community an opportunity to mentor cadets on a permanent basis for their time at the Academy. Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon  
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206.  The guest speaker for Oct. 13 will be Jerry Fortune who will provide information for surviving spouses.  Call 719-556-7153 for more information.
