50 SW garners SCA for SVN-69

Col. Dennis Bythewood (right), 50th Operations Group commander, presents a ceremonial key for the eighth GPS Block IIF satellite (SVN-69) to Lt. Col. Todd Benson, 2nd Space Operations Squadron commander and Lt. Col. Karen Slocum, 19th Space Operations Squadron director of operations, Nov. 25, 2014, at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado. The satellite launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida Oct. 29, 2014. Members of 2 and 19 SOPS conducted testing and evaluation of the vehicle prior to the satellite control authority transfer. Active-duty Airmen with 2 SOPS and Air Force Reservists with 19 SOPS command and control the 39-vehicle GPS constellation, which provides position, navigation and timing to billions of users around the world.
