6 SOPS Reserve Citizen Airmen complete 40,000th satellite contact
SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Col. Traci Kueker-Murphy, 310th Space Wing commander, and Col. Stephen Slade, 310th Operations Group commander, present members of the 6th Space Operations Squadron with a celebratory "check" to mark their completion of the squadron's 40,000th satellite contact on Tuesday, Mar. 20, 2018. 6 SOPS is partnered with Detachment 1, 50th Operations Group, and are responsible for backing up the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration as well as providing a backup command and control center for the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program.
