6th Space Operations Squadron change of command

Col. Elizabeth Paget, 310th Operations Group commander, passes the 6th Space Operations Squadron guidon to Lt. Col. Americo Penaflor, as he assumes command of the squadron during a ceremony on Feb. 3, 2024, on Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado. The 6th SOPS provides a backup command and control center for the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program which provides strategic and tactical weather prediction to aid military operations planning at sea, on land, and in the air.
