AF Reserve space squadron assumes control over nation's weather satellites

Satellite vehicle operators assigned to the Air Force Reserve's 6th Space Operations Squadron set a new milestone April 3, 2014 here.

The squadron assumed command of the nation's Defense Meteorological Satellite Program weather satellites from their National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration counterparts as the nation's newest weather satellite lifted into orbit aboard an Atlas V rocket at Vandenberg AFB, Calif. The squadron will oversee all weather satellite operations until April 8.
